This letter is titled: LIZZIE KIRBY.
I got to know her in our town of Rocky Mountain House Alberta Canada — I being
eleven
and she having about 7 smiling children). She (Lizzie)(Tin Lizzie) — a lady
Blacksmith.
Lizzie could shoe a horse better than a man - it was said - and she was always welding -
(acetylene torches) — grimy face - smile -loving eyes - her children - all
smiles.
(by now 11 children)(1946?)- great names too. And every sunday Lizzie and husband Tim
(staunch and fierce but such a twinkle) in the Nazarene Church - such clappin and singin
and boy oh boy could I hear it - and once I played the pump organ for their service and
the smiles and smiles and wow - they really enjoyed my imp-provisation At 14 I taught
piano lessons to the Kirby daugnters for 35 cents each.
Dear Lizzie Kirby I loved you then and I love you now and I guess you loved me.
Dear sweet smile. Lady of the Bellows.
