Notes Describing Use of Solovox Guitar Pedal to Combine 2 Sound Sources |
These two graphics (below)
are digital reproductions of instructions Bruce wrote for me on notepad with a flair pen
for configuring a guitar "wha-wha" pedal to combine two sound sources; one
acting as a 'gate' and envelope shaper for the other. The notes are very readable except
for the bottom margins. I found this document in my collection of recording-related notes
I kept over the years.
What a great find it was! This will give those of you who are interested in special
effects that Bruce created something solid to work with. And since we have almost no other
technical writings this one is precious. HS

Note: Use
caution and common sense when following Bruces instructions. They call for wiring light
bulbs to speaker output, using amplified sound, tape recorders, etc. I was able to
follow these instructions in the 70's but for the curious some experimenting will be
needed. Please be carefull of your volume levels and turn everything down to ZERO to
start and work up from there.
Note: Cadmium sulfide photo-cells were readily available
in the 1970's, something more environmentally friendly subsitute should be sought, perhaps
from Radio Shack.
I will try to suppliment Bruce's notes with my own when I have a chance to follow the
instructions again. I know, they are not that clear and it's been almost 30 years! |
